【英語初級レッスン No.11】must / have to（義務）の違いと使い方
こんにちは！今回は must / have to（義務） を学びます。
このレッスン後には、「〜しなければならない」「〜する必要がある」だけでなく、「禁止」「不要」まで正しく言えるようになります。
1. 基本の意味とニュアンス
- must：話し手の強い意志・規則・義務（主観的）
例）You must wear a helmet.（ヘルメットをかぶらなければなりません → ルール） - have to：状況や外部要因による必要（客観的）
例）I have to finish my homework.（宿題を終わらせなきゃいけない → 状況的に必要）
2. 形（肯定・否定・疑問）
■ 肯定文
主語 + must / have to + 動詞の原形
■ 否定文（重要：意味が違う！）
- must not + 動詞の原形：禁止（〜してはいけない）
例）You must not smoke here.（ここでタバコを吸ってはいけません） - don’t / doesn’t have to + 動詞の原形：不要（〜する必要はない）
例）You don’t have to come tomorrow.（明日来なくてもいいです）
■ 疑問文
- フォーマル：Must I … ?
- 日常会話：Do you have to … ?

（うん、テストがあるから勉強しなきゃ）A: Oh, then you must not stay up too late.
（じゃあ、夜更かししてはいけないね）B: You’re right. I’ll sleep early.
（そうだね、早く寝るよ）

- She doesn’t have to cook tonight.（彼女は今夜料理をしなくてもいい）
